Virtual Heights
This virtual environment is used by clinical psychologists to treat fear of heights. I was the only programmer and worked with an artist who created the models and textures. The project was completed in about 2 months. The program was written in C++ with graphics and tracking handled by SVE (the Simple Virtual Environment library). I incorporated spatial audio into the environment using the OpenAL API. The user is free to roam around the environment with a Cyberpuck input device. There is a fully functional elevator that can take the user to any of the 20 floors in the building, including the roof. Octree based collision detection prevents the user from walking through walls or falling off of catwalks.
