Collaborative Molecular Modeling
The intent of this project was to create an immersive, collaborative environment for biologists to interact with and modify molecules, nucleic acids, and proteins. The molecular dynamics are powered by AMMP (Another Molecular Modeling Program), which was created by Dr. Robert Harrison. In two months, my colleague and I built a prototype of the system. We restructured AMMP to run as a socket server on Linux. I built the client using C++, OpenGL and GLSL. I also added support for the VFX3D and 5DT for stereo display and orienation tracking. The P5 gaming glove allowed us to cheaply implement a hand grasp interface. In 2005, we presented our work at SIGGRAPH and VRST.
